The Planning Committee considered this application and, having examined and discussed the information supplied agreed that the extensions and alterations to this building as detailed are reasonable and will improve the functionality of the property without any detriment to its character and appearance.

 

We therefore support the application.

Conversion of two agricultural buildings to form one dwelling house with detached storage / additional living accommodation building together with associated works at barns adjacent to Fullabrook Farm Chittlehampton Umberleigh Devon EX37 9RE

 

The Planning Committee agreed that the details and information supplied indicate that this proposal is well planned and represents a sympathetic re-purposing of these dilapidated buildings, creating an attractive and functional dwelling that suits its function, location and context. The materials appear to be well-specified and the overall concept meets the aims set out in the design rationale.

 

We therefore support this application.

The documents and drawings supplied were considered in detail and the councillors present agreed that the proposed development meets the relevant planning criteria. No doubts or objections were raised, nor any known of locally and the Parish Council therefore supports the application.

The documents and drawings supplied were considered in detail and the councillors present agreed that the proposed development meets the relevant planning criteria and that the suggested improvements as outlined seem reasonable and would augment the dwelling’s function. No doubts or objections were raised concerning the layout, specifications and appearance of the scheme, nor are any general objections known of locally. The Parish Council therefore supports the application.

Demolition of agricultural building and erection of two dwellings (Use Class C3) with associated parking and garden at Hillhead Barn Chittlehampton Umberleigh Devon EX37 9RG

Following examination and discussion of the drawings and documents submitted within the context of local knowledge of the area and local opinion it was agreed that this proposal would impose unreasonable demands on the space available within the site and could cause dangerous congestion where vehicles would enter and exit the development from the adjoining highway, which at this point is little more than single vehicle width whilst a principal route for larger vehicles such as buses and delivery vehicles. We had misgivings when a single dwelling was approved for this site, but we feel that such an increase in traffic to and from an extra house would exacerbate this issue dangerously. Regarding the site, the amount of excavation and remodelling would be considerable, even for a single dwelling and whilst the layout could be deemed (at a stretch) 'comfortable' for the currently approved house (including vehicle parking) the revised scheme looks congested and unattractively cramped.

 

For these reasons, as well as those expressed by local residents and doubts raised by the Highways Department regarding interpretations of vehicle sizes and advisory comments from an environmental health consultant Chittlehampton Parish Council does not support this application.

Cosmetic remodelling of existing bathroom, with realignment of modern internal wall and core drilling of three holes to rear elevation for waste pipes to existing waste gulley at ‘Clevedon’, The Square, Chittlehampton, Umberleigh, Devon EX37 9QW

 

This proposal (in addition to 73148 &73180/1) was discussed at a recent virtual meeting of Chittlehampton Parish Council Planning Committee.

The planned internal rearrangements to the house’s bathroom appear to be of minimal impact to the character of the building and seem reasonable given the normal processes of updating and development that feature in the timeline of any residence, and in the Committee’s opinion are entirely acceptable.

Regarding the additional external plumbing and pipework proposed, it was felt that this would be placed in the context of existing similar pipework to the rear of the building and would not be detrimental to its character.

The Parish Council therefore supports this application.

 

Application no. 73148

Erection of garden room and alterations to garage at ‘Belmont’, Chittlehampton, Umberleigh EX37 9QL

 

The drawings and documents supplied were discussed, as well as views expressed in the contexts of local knowledge of the property and its location.

All councillors present at the meeting agreed that the proposal as specified, for the erection of a garden room adjoining the property and alterations to an existing garage appears well designed and appropriate for the building.

Moreover, regarding its location in the village it is not readily visible from the main thoroughfare and is discrete in its positioning.

The Parish Council therefore supports this application.

 

Application no. 73180 with 73181 Listed Building Consent

Extensions and alterations to dwelling at ‘Ardlui’, The Square, Chittlehampton, Umberleigh, Devon EX37 9QW

 

The drawings and documents supplied testify to a large schedule of work and restoration in what is, in the Planning Committee’s opinion, a well-considered and necessary programme of renovation to consolidate this building.

It is difficult to over-emphasise the importance of this property, both in its character and appearance in the context of the village square, and in the history of Chittlehampton itself and the Committee concluded that the apparent care and detailed design that the schedule represents are of commendable quality.

The Parish Council therefore supports these applications.
